So no lights off or on at your sabbath? Interesting, I am assuming then that you leave the lights on all night?
As for the film, these are tough times to maintain any kind of tradition, causes today seem to fade away into the great world of this the vast expanse of the twenty first century.
The challenge of all religions, Judaism, Christianity, Mohamedan,Budhist,Hindu, etc is not only to sustain their own believers, and so sustain themselves and their traditions, but to reach out to those who do not believe and to find a harmony that is acceptable, and viable, and reinforcing. If we can do this, we live, you live,we all live, and prosper. If we cannot do this, we die, you die, we all die. Simple as that. I really wish religious people around the world would understand that, before it's too late. I say each religion should have a seat in their temple for the unbeliever, and it should be hallowed for therein lies real salvation for all relgions for all people, for all the world.

P.s. we set the lights on vacation timers.
The Dalai Lama expressed a desire to learn from Jews "their secret" of survival in exile. The Tibetans, since the Chinese invasion in 1950, have been experiencing a holocaust and exile of their own. Now faced with a struggle to maintain their religion and culture in diaspora, the Dalai Lama perceived an opportunity to learn from experts.
Actually, Judaism is not a religion- Religion condemns those who are bad and those who are wrong. Those who practice a religion strive to be perfect. If they fail they may be condemned, if they succeed they may become intolerant. In Judaism, each good act- such as observing Shabbos- is good, even if I am not a perfect person. This is why Judaism is different from a religion: The focus is on the action not the person.
