Hillary Rosen, who does commentary for CNN, told me yesterday that despite the fact that cable news has decided the war between Clinton and Obama supporters is the story of the convention, they're actually having trouble finding delegates who reflect that.

From here on the ground, the real story is the unhealthy relationship between Democratic politicians and their bigwig donors, but woe to anyone who wants to look into it.

I'm reminded of that Jodie Foster movie ... "Panic Room".

In the movie, Jodie Foster is hunkered down in an airtight security room as home invaders try to rob her home.

Except in this case, Mainstream Media constructed their own Panic Room and promptly moved in .... with all their Stereotypes.

And as the world outside moved, breathed, expanded, grew, CHANGED .... Mainstream Media hunkers down inside their Panic Room .... desperate to hold onto their Business Model of ... Providing Updates On Stereotypes.

For instance .... Republicans are STILL referred to as Fiscal Conservatives .... even though of the last 4 of the last 5 four year Republican terms .... the President engaged in MASSIVE Deficit Spending!

Another ... Republicans are STILL portrayed as being strong on National Defense .... even though they proved how incompetent they were in dealing with a Class 3 Hurricane!

Not only that ... they've proven they are incompetent managing an arbitrary war. Their incompetence leads to all our National Guard troops being sent to Iraq .... so who will Republicans call up in case of a disaster within our borders?

Another ... Mainstream Media will feature Democrats involved in a sex scandal for months or even YEARS! When the Clinton & Monica show went 'Live' ... it STAYED Live for as long as the RNC kept funding it.

EVEN THOUGH .... a very large percentage of the Republicans investigating Clinton .... were themselves adulterers ... some were FAR MORE egregious than Clinton!!

I think we must all agree that Mainstream Media is simply for entertainment .... and to sell advertising .... there's nothing else to it.

The media is lazy and the storyline is already in place, so we get to hear this over and over again. One fellow howls about the media's failings, practically on a daily basis: http://www.dailyhowler.com/. Today's column expands on this topic.

It seems to me that there was a time when radio and early TV looked on news as providing a public service to their listeners. It has since become nothing more that a revenue source. Sleaze sells and the more you can squeeze into a newscast the better. Unfortunately our current lifestyle makes it difficult for many working folks to seek out news in depth. They're always so hurried that two or three minute soundbites are their only source of news. Hard to have an educated electorate under these conditions.

Personally, I believe it's one of the tragedies of our time.

Once again ... it's a highly vocal, paranoid, duplicitous crowd that has ruined it for all.

This time I am speaking of a rag-tag right wing collective. For years ... these people were a very small, crackpot cabal who ranted and whined about how media didn't provide THEIR point of view.

No one bothered to point out that their point of view was decidedly divorced from reality.

But some slick business people saw an opportunity to capture and build this audience with a broadcast machine that justified INSTITUTIONALIZING Bias by referencing IMAGINED Bias!

The upshot is that ... now ... Mainstream Media has simply thrown up it's hands and abdicated it's role of Education. NOW they say ... it's not our role to educate.

Into that vacuum in rushes Rush .... and FOX ... and SBC .... and the hundreds and hundreds of freakishly weird Right Wing Talking Info-Tainers.

It really is an American Tragedy.

I see it a little differently than wanting to gain viewers for revenue. I see it as a concerted effort of propaganda.

The real battle in Denver is taking place in the streets - while elitists inside the convention bicker about who will rule us, those outside who march against war and torture are getting their heads busted by cops.

What is happening inside the DNC is NOTHING. What is happening outside is EVERYTHING!

CNN and Fox"News" have their own very twisted reasons for trying to split the Democratic party.

      Don't let them.

      Cable news LIES continuously.

      Time for REALITY.

Did everyone catch Wolf Blitzer at the beginning, saying, "Everybody is going to be very disappointed by the rest of the night. Comming up next, Michelle Obama's speech."

He "subtly" told us we were going to be disappointed by Michelle Obama.

      We weren't. She was great.

Wolf LIED and tried to manipulate, like CNN does EVERY DAY AND NIGHT.

The convention tries to control what you see and hear every moment. It seldom works, does it.

Corporations and lobbyists "host" the parties every night. The number of corporate jets on the ground would make you think the super bowl is on.

Next week, they move on to St. Paul ...

"And that's the way it is"

Republican convention will be the EXACT same when it comes to corporations and lobbyists and "controling what you see and hear".

There will be just as many - if not MORE - "corporate jets on the ground" for the Republican convention - especially from the OIL Companies ...

"The upshot is that ... now ... Mainstream Media has simply thrown up it's hands and abdicated it's role of Education. NOW they say ... it's not our role to educate".

The word is "indocrinate", goppy. You cannot even get a college "education" without liberal "indoctrination" And guess what, it's the college kids swooning over Obama. They have the experience required to make a good decision.

On the first day of the convention, a PBS anchor went around talking to delegates & found NO dissension among the delegates she interviewed. So I asked myself why the media had come up with the nonsense about there being dissension, & making it 'the' issue of the convention. Then it struck me today after reading people's remarks here on propeller, that a perceived fractured political party might concern some people, especially when 'fortuitously' the world appears to be coming apart at the seams. I.e. Russia, Georgia, Iran, Cuba, and so on. Added to that is the msm's blacked out speeches of some excellent commentary, & I see a pattern emerging.
